Your Stories

From time to time some of you may have EI “horror” stories to share.  We ask you to do that with us so that we can show others they are not alone in this battle with the EI system.  Below is an email we received a little while ago and we wanted to share it with you.

“My mother worked for siemens automotive for 15 years and prior to that worked her whole entire life, including 3 other plant closures. She raised three children on her own with the money she made, without child support. She has paid into EI all of her life and now with the plant closure they won’t extend her claim.

They said because she filed in October, but didn’t actually collect money til May she’s not entitled to it. I find this utterly ridiculous as she has more than paid her share of EI premiums. I wish there was something someone could do for her.

Thank You”

It is utterly deplorable that your mother has gone through this.  After decades and thousands of dollars being contributed by her into the system, for them to deny her after so much hardship should be considered criminal.  We hope you will appeal the decision of the Government of Canada in this case and pursue it further.

Thank you for sharing your story with us.
